What Kind of Teeth Whitening Is Right for Your Salon, Med Spa or Tanning Salon?

Friday, February 19th, 2010

So you’ve been thinking about adding teeth whitening as a new service?  You’ve read up on it, you know you will make money with it, talked to your colleagues in TanToday.com and are ready to bring on the service.  Now you need to decide what type of teeth whitening is right for your salon.

There are two primary teeth whitening options available in the market:  option one uses a dental LED acceleration light and option two uses the UV light from a tanning bed.  Each self-administered system has its benefits and can be used independently or together for great results and complete flexibility for your customers.  This article will explain the differences and help you determine which type of system is right for you.

Teeth whitening using an LED acceleration light offers fast (40 minutes or less), intensive, deep whitening that delivers 4-12 shades whiter teeth.  This system is comparable to what dentists offer with Zoom or BriteSmile.    The acceleration light can be connected into your T-Max timer so that it automatically turns on and off after a paid session and requires little or no personnel to administer.  This process will deliver about over $129-169 dollars profit per sale.  LED whitening is best suited for salons with a dedicated room that can also be used for other services such as massages or body wraps.  LED whitening is great for salons that are expanding their services with spa treatments and have a clientele interested in a full service day spa experience.

Tanning bed teeth whitening doesn’t require a dental grade acceleration light but uses UV light from the tanning bed.  Your customer places a pre-filled mouth tray into his/her mouth or paints the whitening gel onto their teeth and lies in the tanning bed for their specified tanning session.  This system works gradually to whiten each time the customer uses the tanning bed and results in 2-6 or more shades of whiter teeth.  UV whitening removes both internal and external stains but not as deep as the LED whitening.  This option is great for salons that don’t have a special room available for the LED acceleration light.  UV tanning can be used to maintain white teeth after a deep LED whitening. This process will deliver about $20-30 dollars profit per sale. Many salons carry both systems so budget minded customers can use UV whitening and those wanting a deeper, faster whitening use the LED acceleration.

Cosmetic teeth whitening is extremely popular and a great profit center for your tanning salon.  Think about what system will work best for your business and then get started with a reputable, quality supplier for a bright Spring and Summer this 2010!

Why Your Smile Is a Secret Weapon

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Click online or flick on the TV and you know you’ll be told business conditions are tough right now. Conditions like these make your smile a valuable commodity. When everyone around you is tight-lipped or frowning, flashing your smile can become a smart tactical move.

Smiling attracts people to you

Closing a business deal is always quicker when you bring a happy face and not a frown. When you smile you make your colleagues, potential clients and bosses want to join you. People will be curious as to why you are beaming and they will want to find out. Psychologists have revealed that happy people are easier to work with, better able to handle stressful tasks, and more likely to be successful in life. When times are tough, your smile can be your money maker.

It changes your mood

In tough times a smile can stimulate happy feelings so that you actually start feeling good. Late for an appointment or after bad news, a smile can lift your mood and show others that you are resilient.

The party starter

Stuck in an unhappy office or boring seminar? You smile, they smile, everybody smiles. Smiles are infectious. When you enter a room with a grin, other people are more likely to feel happy too.

Look your best

You’ve been on a week-long business trip. Five towns in six days. You’re tired, stressed because your plane was late, and now you have another client meeting. Smiling helps remove the stressed and tired lines from our faces. It also helps us relax so we can think and work more effectively.

Stay healthy

The smile also makes your immune system work more effectively. Doctors believe smiling relaxes us and boosts our ability to fight off illness. Look happy and keep the flu away – and your muscles moving after a long day at the office.

Look younger. Feel younger

The muscles we use to smile lift our faces, making us look younger. Appearing younger makes us feel happier, and also boosts our energy levels so that we can enjoy life more.

Can smiling be a bad thing?

Your boss spills a coffee down their front before an important meeting. Time to smile? It all depends on their personality type. If they know you are smiling with them, not at them, they will feel better. Your smile can make them relax and get ready for the next situation, and it can reassure them that coffee spills are not the end of the world.

A genuine smile is a beautiful thing. Selectively smiling to make those around you feel more comfortable is smart business sense. But smiling to the point of tears? We earn both our smiles and our frowns. So when being happy just doesn’t make sense, don’t be afraid to pull the face you feel. There will be plenty of time to find the bright side again.
